Understanding Bedtime Fear and How to Support Families - Wednesday 16 September - 12:30-1:30pm
Delivered by the Cerebra Sleep Team
Children's fears and anxieties around bedtime can have a significant impact on sleep, wellbeing, and family life. This webinar is designed for professionals supporting children and families and will explore the wide range of factors that can contribute to bedtime distress, resistance, and sleep disruption.
Topics will include parasomnias, general bedtime anxiety, and sensory processing differences that affect settling and sleep routines. We will also discuss the role of demand avoidance, the emotional impact of sleep difficulties on caregivers, including feelings of guilt and shame, and how concerns around death and dying or obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviours (OCD) can present at bedtime.
Drawing on clinical experience and evidence-informed practice, the Cerebra Sleep Team will help professionals develop a deeper understanding of these challenges and provide practical, compassionate strategies to support families in responding effectively to bedtime fears and promoting positive sleep experiences.
