Day 23 – Cardiff to Newport
- Three visits to local SEN schools, with joy and inclusive Relay fun for all
- The amazing team at Cowshed, a Cardiff-based PR agency who created all the Relay Your Way branding, took on a leg of the route themselves – starting at Cardiff City Stadium, they carried the baton through the city and finished at Bute Park
- Then we teamed up with Cardiff Pedal Power for an inclusive cycling stage using their incredible fleet of adapted bikes! Did you see us on ITV Wales news?
- Finished the day with a big cycle through to Newport
Day 24 – Newport to Bristol
- We crossed back into England and unfortunately our planned ‘Play in the Bay’ inclusive surfing session at The Wave couldn’t go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances
Day 25 – Bristol
- Visited a local school, where pupils took part in the Relay
- A special session with the brilliant Misfits Theatre Company, giving people with learning disabilities the chance to express themselves through drama, movement and creativity
Day 26 – Bristol
- The day kicked off with a Cerebral Football Festival, hosted by the fantastic Bristol City CP Football Club
- Then we headed to a vibrant Sensory Sport Festival with our friends at Sense, making movement and play accessible for everyone
Day 27 – Bristol to Winchester
- The team set off on a major cycling stage riding south-east from Bristol Temple Meads to Winchester
Day 28 – Winchester to Portsmouth
- Stopped at two brilliant schools, bringing the baton to life in front of packed playgrounds and excited pupils
What’s next for the Relay?
This week the Relay team and baton are heading from Portsmouth to London. We’re looking forward to the Panathlon Challenge Event at Lord’s Cricket Ground and the Hydro Beatz floating instruments at London Aquatics Centre before the baton crosses the finish line at Parallel Windsor on Sunday!
