The sibling relationship is often an important one. When you have more than one child, you may spend time encouraging positive sibling relationships and supporting siblings and their relationships. This may require additional understanding when a child in the family is autistic or has a learning disability. This webinar is for parents and carers and professionals that support families.

Speaker programme:

  • Dr Louise Rixon, an autism researcher and parent carer, will draw on her research findings and personal experience to discuss the sibling relationship when a child is autistic or has a learning disability. Dr Rixon will provide guidance, examples and strategies to support siblings and to understand a little more about how differences in cognition, language and communication may impact the sibling relationship. We will hear quotes from siblings themselves as well as parents.
  • Julie Tattersfield, parent to three older children, two of whom are autistic, will discuss her own families experience of supporting siblings and sibling relationships.
  • Useful resources and sources of support for siblings, parents and carers will be shared.

Join us for this free lunchtime webinar on Thursday 27th November – 12.30pm – 2pm.
