The team at Fieldfisher is delighted to join Cerebra’s Legal Supporter Group. We have more than 30 years’ experience in helping families achieve a positive future.
We are passionate about providing the best service and support to every family we work with. We focus on the individual needs of each family and guide them through every step of the legal process with empathy and respect.
Our work is about rebuilding lives and ensuring children receive the care and support they need to live their best possible lives. We work towards early admissions of liability to secure interim payments to put in place the right support as quickly as possible. We also secure funds to help ease some of the financial burden families face.
Our medical negligence team is expert in running high-value birth and brain injury cases, achieving maximum settlement to fund rehabilitation, care, therapies and education for the rest of a child’s life.
Supporting Cerebra
We take pride in supporting Cerebra in its brilliant fundraising events.
In July 2024, Fieldfisher took part in the Festival of Inclusivity 10km run for Cerebra at Windsor Great Park.
In August 2024, we represented Cerebra at Superheroes Tri. We teamed up with our client Harry and his brother Tommy in the epic Superheroes Tri at Dorney Lake. Following hospital negligence around his birth, Harry lives with Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, which significantly affects his movement and coordination. The Fieldfisher team were happy to be Harry and Tommy’s sidekicks as they joined in a 150m swim, 3km cycle and 1km run.
Tommy began in the water for the swim leg, towed in an inflatable boat, completing the 150m challenge in record time.
Next up, Harry took on the 3km bike ride on his new adaptive trike. Harry could not keep the smile off his face as he whizzed around the track, ringing his bell to make sure the team was going as fast as possible.
Harry’s trike was purchased from interim damages after liability in his medical negligence claim was settled at the end of last year.
Finally, the whole team, took part in the 1km run. Harry in his pushchair, with Tommy and the team running alongside. Harry and Tommy described the whole event as ‘the Best Day Ever’.
Louise Astill, who organised the team’s participation in the event, said:
“Superheroes Tri, is a fantastic and inclusive event. It was really inspiring to see Harry in action using his new adaptive equipment, enabling him to take part alongside his brother and seeing first-hand the difference having this equipment makes.”
Harry and Tommy’s mum told us;
“Thanks so much for a brilliant day on Saturday! Thanks for being so amazing with both my boys! They had the best day ever! What a brilliant event! The whole team were fantastic!”
In June 2025, Fieldfisher took part in Cerebra’s mammoth Relay Your Way Event which launched in Glasgow and travelled 2500 km through almost every major city in Britain before finishing at the Parallel Windsor Festival of Inclusivity at Windsor Great Park on July 6th.
Fieldfisher helped to create a very special My Way moment, to highlight Liam, one of our fantastic clients to take part in a sailing adventure on the Solent in Portsmouth. Fieldfisher teamed up with Cerebra and Wetwheels Foundation Solent, to arrange for Liam and his family to go boating on a barrier free boat, allowing everyone on board to have the chance to take the helm, feel the sea breeze, and experience the thrill of being out on the open water and also to deliver the relay baton onto the next stage.
Liam has bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (requiring cochlear implants), autism, speech and motor difficulties arising from an injury around the time of his birth resulting from a delay in his delivery following the loss of his twin in utero arising from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Liam had a fantastic time, he took to helm like a natural and even had the opportunity to sail the boat back into the harbour.
Liam’s mum told us afterwards:
“Thanks to all for making it possible. We all had a fabulous day and feel very lucky to have been a part of it. I think a passion for boating may have been unleashed in Liam.”
Birth and Brain Injury Claims
Medical negligence encompasses serious injury following negligent medical care or misdiagnosis, including catastrophic injury to children during birth.
Birth injury cases include injury to the mother, the baby, or both and can result from medical negligence, meaning a claim may be possible.
Cerebral palsy is the most common birth injury claim. Many children with cerebral palsy can lead full and fulfilling lives but some require lifelong support including specialist care, equipment, therapies, educational support and medical interventions to allow them to reach their full potential. These interventions can come with a financial burden for families especially when they are unable to access funded support.
Please visit our website to read more about different types of brain injury claims and to hear from clients about their successful claims.
