Our response to the Law Commission’s consultation on disabled children’s social care law can be found here.

The Law Commission was asked by the Department for Education to review the law to ensure that it is fairer, simpler and more up to date. The consultation closed on 31 January 2025. The Law Commission will now develop its recommendations for reform which will be published in a report. The report is expected mid-2025. Once published, the Government must provide an interim response as soon as possible (but no later than six months after publication of the report) and will give a final response as soon as possible but within a year of the report being published. For more information about what happens after the report is published see here.
