“Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well and still coping with the lockdown!
I will freely admit, it has been pretty tough at times, but we keep catching ourselves, and remind ourselves, that although this has been difficult at times, it is an amazing chance to spend time with each other that in normal circumstances is not possible. So we have tried to teach our children life skills more than school work, because we have found it much easier that way- we feel we are being better parents staying calm and teaching what we are able to, rather than trying (and failing) to teach school work and stressing about it!
Anyway, I have some very exciting news. The CIC team have collaborated with University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and we are manufacturing face shields for front line workers. The University have kindly paid for a huge stock of material, opened up some of their workshops and some of their staff have volunteered to help us make 5000 face shields! We have adopted a tried-and-tested face shield design that has been successfully launched in many hospitals around London and we have 3 laser cutters working flat out cutting the parts. Then we have another team assembling the shields and bagging and boxing them. All the work is being done under strict social distancing and cleanliness rules! We are really happy to be able to help the people who are going out to work and to keep us safe and fed.
I will be sure to keep you updated as the process continues, and when I get chance to take some photos of the team hard at work I will post them!”
Very best wishes to you all from Ross Head and the CIC team.
