This one-day conference will host talks from some world class academics who are undertaking research funded by Cerebra. Researchers from a range of disciplines (Applied Psychology, Foetal Medicine, Product Design and Law), will talk about their work and how their research and innovation activities are achieving real world impact to improve outcomes for children with complex needs and their families.
This conference is aimed at parents, carers and professionals or anyone interested in learning about recent research and initiatives to reduce the societal inequalities and promote the health and wellbeing of this group of children and families.
Conference topics/speakers include:
- Interventions – research to improve the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and/or severe or complex needs and their families (Professor Richard Hastings, University of Warwick, Dr Jo Moss, Dr Jane Waite, Cerebra Network for Neurodevelopmental Disorders)
- Bright ideas for brilliant kids – innovative, bespoke products to help disabled children discover and engage with the world around them (Dr Ross Head, Cerebra Innovation Centre)
- Pregnancy – identifying interventions to help prevent and/or minimise childhood disability (Dr Eduard Gratacos, University of Barcelona, Mr Nigel Simpson, University of Leeds)
- Legal entitlements – helping families to access their legal rights (Professor Luke Clements, University of Leeds School of Law)
There will be opportunities for delegates to ask questions of the speakers about their research and to network.

Hi
Will CPD points be awarded?
Thank you
Hi Nathaniel. Our conference isn’t on one particular topic but will cover a broad range of areas covered by our research so we haven’t attached CPD points to this conference.
Will there be a hybrid model for those not living in UK? Would love to attend
Hi Debby, the conference won’t be hybrid but the sessions will be filmed and uploaded to our website afterwards.
Do you actually do these every year? Can parent/carers really sign up and attend??
Hi Toni. We don’t hold these every year, but will hopefully hold them more regularly. Yes, absolutely they can. It would be great if you could attend. There’s a link on the page to book a place. Many thanks, Derek
Hi, can we attend the conference via zoom?
Thank you
Hi Louise. Thanks for getting in touch. I’m sorry to say that this one is in-person only. Many thanks, Derek
